Applegate Bogdanski returns from Vietnam with a missing leg, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. A fair trade, he thinks, for a coward, whose only remaining passion is to dull his grief with morphine. He stumbles through each day working at an obscure Newark, New Jersey bookstore, looking forward to nothing and hoping it would arrive soon. Enter Angela, who claims to be his guardian angel. Neither one is an angel, but together, they uncover a conspiracy which threatens to undo humankind itself.

Reviews
I was firmly hooked by the middle of the first chapter! That's my kind of story. Great opening, with quick character sketches that get filled in as you read. More than enough 'say what's?' to keep you turning the page ... The plot is wonderful. I don't want to give anything away, it's too delicious to spoil.  Gary Alan

Doweyko captures the reader’s attention with kick-butt action in a video game storytelling format. Newark native Apple Bogdanski, “a mortal soul, twisted by war, defeated by grief, and sullied by drugs,” is threatened by villains looking for a photograph. Angela is an investigator for the Consortium, a group that’s been monitoring Earth for centuries and populating it with aliens. Apple is not quite sure he believes Angela’s explanations of recent strange events. As puzzle pieces fall into place, the two gather their resources to thwart a conspiracy by rogue Consortium investigators. Fighting becomes fiercer as a deadline approaches, forcing Apple and Angela to muster cunning and determination to outthink the conspirators. There is enough attraction for the couple to be friends, but it’s hard to buy into a happily-ever-after for them; they’re drawn to each other but refuse to admit it. The secondary characters from Tibet and the nonstop action are the bedrock of this story.

Algorithm is a fast-paced, science fiction mystery/thriller. The novel is an epic tale consisting of two parts: The Medallion and The Makers. Using real science and real events, we are  drawn through a rapidly unfolding series of discoveries and adventures, which  ultimately lead to a surprising view of mankind’s purpose  on Earth.

A gold medallion found in a lump of coal  sets the  stage for a hair-raising adventure for two scientists, Adam Dove and  Linda Garcia, who struggle to discover its origin and  meaning. Analyses reveal it to be millions of years old, containing a sequence of symbols resembling a computer program. Besides dealing with the paradigm-shifting implications of  this  finding, they are pursued by a Nazi underground bent on retrieving the disk and a mysterious alien presence, which may be more  interested in destroying it. Ultimately, Adam and Linda face the most difficult decision of their lives, one which offers the answer to mankind's purpose on Earth, but at the cost of leaving behind all that they know and love.

"Hard science fiction is always a trick to pull off, but Arthur Doweyko's novel, Algorithm, does it, and he takes you places you didn't expect to go. It's a fun ride, and if you pay attention, you might find yourself learning some things you didn't know. Nice job, Arthur."
—Steve Perry  New York Times Bestselling Author of The Vastalimi Gambit

"THE ACTION CONTINUES TO THE END … Hardly anything is what it seems to be. Genre readers should enjoy it; I did."
—Piers Anthony  Author of the Xanth fantasy series

An intriguing story from the beginning. OLD SCHOOL HARD SCIENCE FICTION about the modern biological sciences and nanotechnology. I loved it.

Wind-In-Trees

Picture

Henry Wind-In-Trees is a Lakota Sioux native American. He is also a cyborg.  An asteroid strike and a viral outbreak that followed left few humans alive -- those that were lucky to have their brains encased in impervious titanium skulls. At least that's what the news said. Henry will discover the truth, but in no easy way. He, his ghost of a wife, a robot aide and an unusual visitor will take a roller-coaster ride through a post-apocalyptic world where nothing is as it seems.
